We are seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our 3 doctor mixed animal practice in Wausau, WI. We are a privately owned practice serving the central Wisconsin area since 1972. Our focus is quality medicine and surgery in a relaxed work environment. We strive to provide a low-key, family-friendly practice with long-term employees. The Veterinary Technician is a key member of the team approach in our clinic, supporting and assisting the veterinarians and other staff in providing quality veterinary care and customer service. Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred, but we are able to mentor new graduates.

The duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but not limited to:
-working closely with veterinarians and other staff
-professional, friendly interactions with all staff and clients
-provide compassionate care for animals. This position will be primarily small animal, but interest or experience with equines, swine, pocket pets, and small ruminants is beneficial.
-must have a strong knowledge base of animal husbandry, small animal restraint and other clinical skills, record keeping, and nursing care. Knowledge of low-stress handling techniques is beneficial.
-assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with the state of Wisconsin Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians. This includes, but not limited to, performing treatments such as venipuncture, administering medications, obtaining patient vital signs, placing intravenous catheters, surgical preparation, monitoring anesthesia, and performing dental cleanings.
-assist in taking radiographs and laboratory procedures. Knowledge of IDEXX laboratory equipment is beneficial.
-help maintain a clean facility, including exam rooms, kennels, reception area, etc
-follow instructions and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
-help at our reception desk, including answering phone and scheduling appointments
-other duties as assigned
-ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 40 to 50 pounds. Lifting higher weights requires requesting assistance from another associate.
-available to work approximately 35-40 hours a week, with a rotating Saturday morning

Required language: English
Required education or certification: Current unrestricted Veterinary Technician Certification and Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) in Wisconsin. Ability to complete the VTNE test within 6 months of employment may be considered.
Required Experience: All levels of experience considered, including new or recent graduates.
